Google has asked app developers to explain why they are gathering data from consumers.
Users will see the data security area in the Google Play app store starting April 27th, according to the company’s newest blog post.
Google, the world’s largest search engine, requested application developers on Tuesday to describe why they collect customers’ data or whether it is shared with any third parties.
Users will begin to see the data safety area in the Google Play app store from April 27 onwards, according to the company, as well as developers must finish the part for their apps by July 20.
Google stated that it has learned from user and app developer feedback that simply displaying the data collected by an app without extra context is insufficient.
Users like to know why their information is being taken or whether the developer is distributing their information with third parties, according to the report.
“In addition, customers want to know how app developers protect user data once they download an app.” This is why the data security section was created to allow developers to clearly designate what data is being gathered or for what purpose. Users could also see if an app requires this data to work or if it is optional,” according to the blog post.
as per the blog post, the app should allow users to discover the world, interact with dear ones, work, discover new skills, and much more without jeopardizing their safety.
“In addition to Google Play’s existing safety features, the new data safety section gives customers the visibility and control they need to enjoy their apps,” according to the post.
