Women Safety on Priority: Vodafone Idea Foundation launches MyAmbar App

The CSR arm of Vodafone Idea limited, Vodafone Idea Foundation in partnership with Nasscom foundation, Sayfty Trust and UN Women has launched a new app for women called “MyAmbar” (meaning my sky). A solution designed and developed especially for women empowerment and their safety.

The app is currently available only on Android in Hindi and English languages. Commenting on the launch of the app, P. Balaji, Chief Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Officer, Vodafone Idea Limited, said, “MyAmbar is devised to assist women in distress by facilitating information and access to related support, over a single platform. The app will help them understand and recognize the constituents of abuse around them and gain access to verified information on medical, legal and counselling services located close by.”

The MyAmbar app brings ready help and education for women, it also helps create a secure haven for the survivors and high-risk victims to log in their complaints and seek help without bias judgment.

The solution was launched through a virtual event by Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, The Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiative and Rural Development, Mr. P. Balaji, Chief Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Officer, Vodafone Idea Limited, Ms. Nishtha Sataym, Deputy Country Representative, UN Women, Ms. Rashmi Singh, Director, Department of Women and Child Development, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Dr. Shruti Kapoor, Founder and President, Sayfty Trust along with Mr. Ashok Pamidi, CEO and Mr. Santosh Abraham, Vice President from NASSCOM Foundation, who shared their thoughts and insights on Prevention, Safety & Empowerment for women through MyAmbar.

Ashok Pamidi, CEO, Nasscom Foundation, on the launch said, “One in three women worldwide experience physical and sexual violence. More than four lakh cases of crime against women were registered in 2019 according to India National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB). These are just official numbers; we all are aware that a lot of domestic violence cases against women are not reported. Both prevention fromm such assaults and support in recovery of victims are of prime importance.”

“Today, with MyAmbar, we have taken a vital step to leverage technology to work towards women safety and empowerment. I urge everyone to use MyAmbar and support us in bringing this solution to every women across India’s remotest corner,” Pamidi said.

How to Download the MyAmbar App?

• Open Google Play Store on your Android Phone

• Search for MyAmbar App

• Download and Install the app

• Open the app and enter the details required

Once you install the app you will be able to take advantage of its features. The app provides many useful features like:

• Ready to use directory of helpline numbers across India

• Comprehensive information on various aspects of Gender-based violence presented in easy to understand form

• Self-risk assessment for users to understand their physical and emotional state along with recommendations for further course of action

• Step by step help guide for women to take action in case of any violence.

• Upfront SOS helpline button, among many others.

Moreover, the app also allows it users to use the app with 2G network. This means that even in low signal areas the app will function.
